The School of International Economics and Trade, SDUFE, has originated from the foreign trade major in Shandong College of Economics in 1960. The Department of International Economics and Trade was established in 1990 which was renamed to School of International Trade in 2003 in Shandong College of Economics. The former Shandong Institute of Finance established the Department of International Economics in 1991 which was renamed to School of International Economics and Trade in 2002. The current School of International Economics and Trade is a merger of both after the union of former Shandong College of Economics and Shandong Institute of Finance in 2011.
Now it has established 3 undergraduate programs involving majors of International Economics and Trade, International Business and Trade Economics. 3 master degree programs covering academic fields of International Trade, World Economics as well as an applied sector of International Business. In 2009 the School of International Economics and Trade has been granted with 1 doctoral degree program in International Trade. Additionally, International Trade is both a Provincial Key Major in “11th Five-Year-Plan” of Shandong Province, and a Provincial Characteristic Key Major in “12th Five-Year-Plan” of Shandong Province. International Economics and Trade is a National Characteristic Major, a Teaching Innovation Experimental Major of Shandong Province, a School Key Major. The International Economics is National Bilingual Language Model Teaching Course. Teaching Team of International Economics and Trade, Bilingual Teaching Team of International Economics and Trade are two Provincial Teaching Teams. Three Provincial Excellent Courses are International Trade Practice, International Economics Theory and Practice of Transnational Corporations. Two Provincial Bilingual Model Courses are International Marketing and International Business. There are also eight University-level Excellent Courses.
The total enrollment of undergraduates and postgraduates in this School reaches more than 2,300. The School owns a teaching staff of 81, among which about 69 are full-time teachers with 15 professors, 30 associate professors, and one quarter of the staff have either educational background or working/teaching experience abroad. It has 3 doctoral tutors and 26 master tutors. The teachers with doctoral degree (including Doctor Candidates) in this School account for78% of the total teaching staff.
